Here is the short version for anyone in South Africa hunting for cheaper Clash Royale Gems: the lowest price on every pack size we track is exactly the same as the lowest price shown for the United States. South Africa has one more seller quoting than the American list does, and its full price list is not a carbon copy of any other country's — but the extra seller sits at the expensive end of the table, not the cheap end. It widens the gap between best and worst, without lowering the floor.
So the question is not "is there a South African discount?" There isn't one in our comparison. The question is which pack and which seller, and the numbers below answer both.
The South African price table
Five sellers had current Clash Royale Gems prices for South Africa when we checked. All prices are quoted in US dollars; none of the sellers in this list quoted in rand.
| Pack | Cheapest | Seller | Sellers quoting | Spread to dearest | |---|---|---|---|---| | 80 Gems | $0.92 | LootBar | 4 | 29% | | 500 Gems | $4.00 | Eldorado.gg | 4 | 20% | | 1,200 Gems | $9.00 | Eldorado.gg | 5 | 33% | | 2,500 Gems | $18.40 | LootBar | 5 | 9% | | 6,500 Gems | $44.90 | G2g | 5 | 5% | | 14,000 Gems | $88.90 | Eldorado.gg | 5 | 6% |
Three different sellers take the cheapest slot across six packs. Eldorado.gg leads on three of them, LootBar on two and G2g on one. On MangoRecharge, LootBar is listed as an established reseller, while Eldorado.gg and G2g are listed as third-party sellers. That is a description of how each is labelled on our site, nothing more.
Where the South African list actually differs
Set South Africa next to the United States, Japan and Bangladesh and the picture gets clearer.
Against the United States, the cheapest price on all six packs is identical: $0.92, $4.00, $9.00, $18.40, $44.90 and $88.90. What changes is the top of the range. On the 1,200 pack the dearest South African quote is $11.98, against $9.60 in the United States. On the 2,500 pack it is $19.99 against $19.20. That is why the South African spread on 1,200 Gems reaches 33% while the American one is 7%. Same cheapest price, a more expensive worst case.
Against Japan, the only difference at the cheap end is the 6,500 pack: $44.90 in South Africa versus $44.98 in Japan. G2g, which sets the South African low on that pack, does not appear in Japan's three-seller list. Eight cents is not worth planning around, but it shows how a single seller's presence moves a row.
Against Bangladesh, the gap is real. A seller called Diamondshopbd appears in Bangladesh's list and not South Africa's, and it quotes 14,000 Gems at $52.29 against South Africa's $88.90. That is a country-scoped listing rather than a Bangladesh price for everyone. Before ever buying from a seller outside your own region, check that it actually serves accounts like yours — if it does not, the saving is not available to you.
The honest finding: South Africa's cheapest Clash Royale prices are the same ones much of the world sees. What you control is pack size and which seller you click.
The per-gem curve
Divide each cheapest price by the number of Gems and the value of bigger packs is hard to miss:
| Pack | Cost per 100 Gems | |---|---| | 80 | $1.150 | | 500 | $0.800 | | 1,200 | $0.750 | | 2,500 | $0.736 | | 6,500 | $0.691 | | 14,000 | $0.635 |
From the 80 pack to the 14,000 pack the cost per 100 Gems falls 44.8%. There is no tier where the curve turns back up, which is not true of every game we track — each step up in size is at least slightly better value than the one before.
The steepest single drop is the first one. Going from 80 to 500 Gems takes the rate from $1.15 to $0.80 per 100, roughly 30% cheaper per gem. After 1,200 the improvements shrink to a few cents per 100 at each step.
What stacking small packs really costs
Because the curve never turns up, buying small and often is the most expensive way to collect Gems.
- Reaching 14,000 Gems with 80 Gem packs takes 175 purchases. At $0.92 each that is $161.00, against $88.90 for one 14,000 pack — $72.10 more.
- Reaching 14,000 Gems with 500 Gem packs takes 28 purchases. At $4.00 each that is $112.00 — still $23.10 more than the single big pack.
Nobody needs 14,000 Gems at once, and tying up nearly $90 is a real cost of its own. A more practical reading: if you were going to buy the 80 pack several times over the coming weeks, a single 500 or 1,200 pack captures most of the per-gem saving for a much smaller outlay.
Same pack, different price
The biggest percentage gap between sellers on the same pack is on 1,200 Gems: $9.00 at the cheapest, $11.98 at the dearest, a 33% spread or $2.98. The biggest gap in dollars is on 14,000 Gems, where the cheapest is $88.90 and the dearest $94.00, a $5.10 difference.
At the large end the sellers bunch together — 5% and 6% spreads on the two biggest packs. In the middle of the table they do not. If you buy mid-sized packs, comparing sellers is worth the extra minute; on the largest packs, the pack choice matters far more than the seller choice.
Paying from South Africa
Because every quote is in US dollars, the amount that leaves your account in rand depends on your bank or card provider's exchange rate and any foreign-transaction fee they add. On a small purchase a fixed fee can outweigh the difference between the two cheapest sellers, so check your own card's terms before treating a few cents as savings.
Before you buy
- Match the account. Gems go to your Supercell account. Make sure the listing delivers to the account and region you play on.
- Know how it is delivered. Some listings are top-ups to your player tag, others are codes you redeem. Read which one you are buying.
- Do not share your password. A top-up should need your player identifier, not your login.
- Treat outliers carefully. If one price sits far below everyone else, read the listing closely before paying.
- Check the support route on the seller's own site before you pay, not after.
